It may sound like a cliche, but I can recite story after story to demonstrate that the secret to success is to never quit.
We all have separate stories to tell, and maybe you can identify with one of them.
But the overriding point that came out of our discussion is that, when faced with obstacles that were preventing us from reaching our goals in life, we made a deliberate decision to smash through, go around, or climb over them.
Why do some people have the fortitude to press on, while others give up and quit?
I would venture a guess that it has something to do with that small space that resides between the ears.
In my case, I was engrossed in personal development books at an early age. I read “Think and Grow Rich”, “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, “The Magic of Thinking Big”, and many others. I even read “Psycho-Cybernetics” when I was about 9 years old!
Why was I attracted to such books?
I wish I had the answer, because I really have no idea. All I can state positively is that even at an early age I understood the power of belief, and having a vision for success.
But the point is, no matter your circumstances, no matter your place in life, or even how old your are, it is never too late to decide to start living life on your own terms.
One of the primary reasons we love Empower Network is because it not only provides us with an awesome blogging tool to get our content ranked, and superior training to make us better internet marketers, but it emphasizes personal development. Because without fixing what is between our ears, we will just continue to wander aimlessly as sea without a compass.
Having a vision of where you want to go in life is critical to your success.
Empower Network teaches you how to define that vision and see it to its ultimate fulfillment.
Decision and Persistence.
It is often said that change takes time, but the decision to change happens in an instant.
Make that change and then also decide to never quit.
We opened with a cliche, so let’s end with one…
Quitters never win, and winners never quit.
Make today the day that you decide to take control and be a winner at this game of life!

How the Empower Network Blogging Platform Can Help Your Business
One of the suggestions I always make to my clients now is that they also join Empower Network and start a company blog. This is advantageous for several reasons, whether you have a brick and mortar business, or a home business.
The first thing it allows you to do is create backlinks to your company web site, if you have one. Backlinks are very important for search engine optimization (SEO). Before we discuss what backlinks are, let’s examine SEO.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s “natural” or un-paid (“organic”) search results. In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users. SEO may target different kinds of search, includingimage search, local search, video search, academic search, news search and industry-specificvertical search engines. (Wikipedia).
So basically, what this means is that by implementing some simple seo techniques, one can get their web site to show up higher in the search results when a user types in a certain phrase into a search engine.
So, for example, if you live in Atlanta and have the need for a plumber, you might go to Google and type in the phrase “Atlanta plumbers” and what will be returned is pages of plumbers located in the Atlanta area. If you are a plumber in Atlanta, then you would be very interested in having your company show up in those first few search results on the first page. That is what search engine optimization is all about.
Now what are backlinks and why are they important in SEO?
Again, turning to Wikipedia, we find the following:
Backlinks, also known as incoming links, inbound links, inlinks, and inward links, are incoming links to a website or web page. In basic link terminology, a backlink is any link received by a web node (web page, directory, website, or top level domain) from another web node.
Inbound links were originally important (prior to the emergence of search engines) as a primary means of web navigation; today, their significance lies in search engineoptimization (SEO). The number of backlinks is one indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page (for example, this is used by Google to determine the PageRank of a webpage). Outside of SEO, the backlinks of a webpage may be of significant personal, cultural or semantic interest: they indicate who is paying attention to that page.
So a backlink is simply a way for someone to get from one web site to another. So if you are a business owner and you have one web site that has links that point to your company web site, that provides you what is called “seo juice”.
So why have a blog?
It helps you to create backlinks to your company web site. Likewise, you can also create a page on your company web site that points to your blog, providing “seo juice” to both web sites.
Empower Network Is An Authority Site
There is a second reason, however, that I recommend that business owners get themselves a blog with Empower Network.
Check out these latest rankings from Alexa, a California-based subsidiary company of Amazon.com which provides commercial web traffic data.
The Empower Network Web Site is ranked within the top 400 web sites in the entire world! And they are ranked #91 in the U.S..
That ranks them higher than a lot of well known sites such as The Washington Post, FedEx, AT&T, ABC News.com, and The Warrior Forum!
Why is this important to your business?
It means that Empower Network’s Alex Rank puts them in the status of what is called an Authority Site. And because they are considered an Authority Site, that means that content posted to it is pushed to the top of the search engine results. This means your seo is helped even more by simply using your Empower Network Blog. This is a tremendous advantage over other blogging platforms out there in the marketplace.
And for only $25 a month, it’s difficult to understand why any business owner would not want to have their own Empower Network Blogging System.

Back in July of 2008 I had come to a crossroads in my career.
I was burned out, frustrated, and ready to make a change in my life.
For 15 years I had run my own computer consulting company with moderate success. But things were changing.
Companies for whom I had previously worked were jumping into the outsourcing craze and relying less on domestic personnel. This made it increasingly difficult to find new contracts and some companies wouldn’t even work with me on a company-to-company basis. If I was to land a contract, then I would have to subcontract with another company who still had connections inside the human resources division. This had also driven down compensatory rates which meant my company was not making as much profit as in previous years, especially since I had to share part of the rate with the company with whom I was subcontracting.
My Foray Into the Online Business World
So I turned to the internet to see if there was an online business I could start to at least supplement my current income and then perhaps replace my income at some point in the future.
That is when I was fortunate enough to come across Tissa Godavitarne and his business ACME People Search. I wont say that things were easy in the beginning because they were not. I earned some money here and there but nothing that could come close to allowing me to leave my consulting business. In fact, in the first 18 months, I really struggled to make a decent income.
It was in late 2009 that I joined a company called Global Virtual Opportunities (GVO). They are a web hosting/marketing company based out of San Antonio, Texas that decided to advertise, not by purchasing paid media, but by having an affiliate program. An affiliate program allows people like you and me to sell somebody else’s products and/or services and make commissions. I have done very well with them over the years (below is a recent snapshot of the commissions I have earned).
This success proved to me that I could earn a full time income working from home and that is what I have been doing since. Let me also add that my earnings are not average, but I don’t consider myself average either. I have worked very hard to get to where I am earning this type of income, and so no one can guarantee you will earn this type of income. It all depends on you and how dedicated you are to achieving your dreams.
My Primary Online Business Today
In the last few years I have joined several different businesses and developed a consistent, residual income every month. If you’re not familiar with residual income, it simply means that it’s income that gets paid to you month after month whether you make any more sales or not.
My latest online business venture was joining Empower Network in December 2012. There are several things that went into my decision to sign up:
- Terrific products
- Great Company Leadership
- 100% commissions
- Residual Income
One of the most attractive elements of Empower Network (and why it is called “EMPOWER“) is that they stress personal development in their training. This is something that has been sorely missed in our industry and rarely emphasized.
I cannot count the number of times I have heard someone tell me “I am broke so I really need to make this work” when it came to joining me in one of my businesses.
If someone believes they are broke, guess what?
THEY ARE BROKE!
And they are going to stay broke until they change their mindset.
One will NEVER be able to change their life without first changing what is between their ears.
That is where it all begins, and at Empower Network we know it, teach it, and stress it in everything we do.
So why did I decide to join an online business back in 2008?
It started off as a way to change the direction of my life. I wanted less stress, more freedom, and more meaning in my life.
I’ve achieved the first two.
And now I’m working on the third one by helping others do the same thing, by showing them how to live another way of life too.
If living life on your own terms is something you are seeking, then feel free to reach out to Deb and me.
We will be happy to discuss your current situation, and help you design a plan to live the kind of life you desire. All we ask in return is that you are willing to work for it.
If that sounds like you, then we look forward to working with you.
Until next time…
If you want to be successful in any business then it is critical that you acquaint yourself with two very important terms.
What Is Cost Per Acquisition?
The first is “Cost Per Acquisition” or CPA for short.
CPA is the amount of time and/or money that one has to spend in order to acquire one new customer. So, as an example, if you spend $2,000 on a marketing campaign and you acquire 5 customers from that campaign, then your CPA is $400 per customer. If you also can spend 40 hours using free resources and acquire a customer for no additional cost, then that would drive the CPA down to $333 ($2000 / 6).
What Is Lifetime Customer Value?
The second is “Lifetime Customer Value” or LCV for short.
LCV is the average amount of money you earn over the lifetime of each customer you acquire whether they leave the business or not. So, for example, let’s say you acquired the 5 aforementioned customers and they purchased the following with your business over their lifetime with your business:
- Customer 1: $300
- Customer 2: $1500
- Customer 3: $150
- Customer 4: $2500
- Customer 5: $1000
Then the average of these 5 customers would be $1090 ($5450 / 5).
As you add more customers you can begin to calculate a pretty accurate and consistent LCV.
Why Are Cost Per Acquisition and Lifetime Customer Value Important?
The reason this is important is because you can now determine what you are willing to spend to acquire every new customer.
Using the above example, would you be willing to spend $400 to acquire a new customer if you knew you could expect to receive $1090 in return?
I know I would! That’s a $690 profit on every customer I get.
The point of all this is that I run into people all the time who have an aversion to spending money to build their business. They think about the $400 instead of what the $400 can turn into.
It’s the people who are willing to invest in their business with time and money who eventually become successful.
Comprehending this is the name of the game.
Once they understand this important concept, then they can go about testing various marketing strategies and determining which ones provide the lowest CPA.
LCV is usually based on the value and service that is provided to the customer by the business. The better the value and service, the more likely a customer will be to either stay a customer, or repeat as a customer. So it’s critical for the business to focus on the back end once the acquisition of the customer is completed.

Three years ago Anna Linnehan was a successful businesswoman, running 2 separate businesses at the time.
However, she also found herself burned out working 80 to 90 hours a week and really finding no time for herself or her family.
An acquaintance of hers, a Mister Yogi from India, happened to be walking by one of her shops and walked in, telling her that he felt led to speak with her.
As they engaged in conversation, and Anna began to spill out to him her frustration with all the hours she was having to spend to run her businesses, Mister Yogi suggested she slow down, and begin to do some meditation.
Anna laughed at that suggestion. How was she going to possibly find time to meditate when she was already working so much?
It was at this point in the conversation when Mister Yogi made a very strange comment to Anna.
He told her she would be traveling to Thailand, doing a great deal of writing, and empowering a lot of people.
Three years ago Thailand was the furthest thing from Anna’s mind.
Fast forward to 2013.
Anna found herself traveling to Thailand with 7 other individuals as part of Project AWOL to learn how to live another way of life.
The experience was one Anna said she will never forget. However, the entire time she was there, she just kept thinking that she wished she could share it all with her family. And that is her dream…
To be able to live another way of life so she can bring joy and happiness to her family.
What she learned during the week there has transformed her life. She is now doing a great deal of writing and empowering a lot of others to live the kind of lives they choose.
Mister Yogi seemed to know what he was talking about.
You can watch her journey unfold in the Project AWOL Reality Show.
